OM-A Koa cutaway

I've always liked the OM body shape and I like a nice Macaferri-style cutaway, so it was high time to put the two together. This one turned out simply beautifully, if I do say so myself. The appointments are a mix of my style A and style B, but the neck heel joint and volute put it in the official style A category. The maple binding and light shading give it an simple but sexy look. I've used my J1 bridge, peghead and fingerboard treatment rather than the more traditionl belly bridge and sqarish peghead. It seems to work well with the cutaway aesthetic.
The Koa back and sides are always nice to look at and in conjunction with the Englemann Spruce in this instance give an absolutely wonderful sound. This guitar surprised me a little with more volume and low end than I expected out of the combination. What I imagined would be a sweet little fingerstyle guitar with nice sustain and a bit of an OM growl turned out to be a real cannon. I love the way it "shifts gears" With a light touch it fills out extremely nicely and when played with more power it really pops in the high end and very nearly booms in the lows. Check out the sound page to get a sampling of it's versatility. It's definitely more than just a pretty face.
